Kaitum is a small stop on the Iron Ore Line beside the Kaitum River, between Gällivare and Kiruna. [1]
For the central part of Kaitum fjällurskog nature reserve, the County Administrative Board identifies Sjisjka as the rail access point. Choose a stop to suit your planned walk, rather than relying only on the reserve’s name. [1]
The older railway bridge at Kaitum was manufactured by Göteborgs Mekaniska Verkstad in 1900. The steel bridge was later replaced by a concrete bridge, a local example of the renewal of Malmbanan’s infrastructure. [2]
