Vara’s blue station building is itself a visitor attraction: Katharina Grosse’s artwork The Blue Orange. [1]
The station building is blue, with large colourful forms on its roof and another nearby. The artwork helps identify the station setting when you arrive in Vara. [1]
The first station building, from 1867, was replaced by today’s building in 1900 when the Göteborg–Skara railway via Vara opened. Katharina Grosse’s The Blue Orange, incorporating the station building, was unveiled in 2012. Its title came from a poem by Paul Éluard. [2] [1]
