Sävsjö grew around the station at the boundary between Norra Ljunga and Vallsjö parishes and is now an interchange for journeys into the Småland highlands. [1]

The first train called at Sävsjö’s station building in 1864. The station had been planned closer to Sävsjö village but was built farther east beside the river, on the boundary between Norra Ljunga and Vallsjö. Homes, shops and businesses then developed around the railway. [2]
