Äskekärr is on the Kinnekulle Line between Lugnås and Forshem, in a former sawmill village. [1]
Äskekärr’s railway setting is where the old country road crosses the line. The former station building and sawmill have been demolished, so use the train stop as your destination when planning a village visit. [1]
The village grew around the Mariestad–Kinnekulle Railway station in the late 1800s. Alongside the passenger railway, a 600-millimetre-gauge forest railway ran from Östra Kinneskoga to the sawmill, operated by Domänstyrelsen. [1]
